PEÑON DE IFACH, CALPE, ALICANTE, SPAIN

On December 2010 the little family visited the "Peñón de Ifach" at Calpe, a beautiful village on the coast of Alicante. It is magnificent, however when I got home I checked the photos and almost all of them were birds, but not different kind of birds, not, all were Gaviotas patiamarillas. Why?

Here is the answer, the white, the grey, the black, the yellow and the red of the Gaviota patiamarilla (Larus michaellis).

EMBALSES DE RIEGO Y ZAMPULLINES. HELPING BIRDS TO NEST ON YOUR IRRIGATION WATER RESERVOIR.

My father and I decided this year help a kind of grebe (zampullin comun) to make a nest in our water reservoir. We use a pallet with empty plastic cans under it. Here I sow the results. Esta temporada de cría hemos puesto un pale flotando en el embalse y los zampullines han podido construir un nido, no sobre el, si no junto a el. El pale se mantiene a flote ajustando bidones vacíos en su parte inferior. Ya hay tres pollitos de zampullin.

On the top of mother, the little grebes are not afraid of the water. 

SPANISH BIRDS: COGUJADAS.

Me he tropezado alguna vez con cogujada montesina? No lo se.

En el paraje de Martín Rodriguez, pico corto y cresta no muy pronunciada, montesina? Un colega cuyo blog sigo (elcamperoinquieto) informa que esta es montesina. Gracias.

JABALIES. WILD BOARS

I was lucky enough to watch in two different places of the sierra a mother wild boar with babies born just a few days ago. It remember me that perhaps I should be in another place... with my little wild boar. 

A finales de Abril los jóvenes rayones ya se pueden ver por la sierra. En la solana, la hembra dio la voz de alarma y se alejo dejando los rayones escondidos entre el matorral. En la umbría, una madre con sus cuatro rayones bajaban por el sendero acostumbrado a zonas mas bajas de la sierra.
